Q1 What is VWC?

Q2 What is vertical running?

Vertical running is race of 100 meters or more going up an incline of over 33%.

Q3 What type of race is this and what is the distance?

Elite, Individual and Fun ClimbType A:

Participants will start on Level 1 of Two IFC, and finish at Level 57 of the building, climbing 1,460 steps and 254 metres. For Fun Climb – Type A, no ranking, with only finish time for reference.

 

Team/ Corporate and Student Relay:

In four members relay teams, participants will start on Level 1 of Two Shanghai IFC with three relay points to the finish on Level 57.


Fun Climb – Type B:

A shorter version, climbing a total of 16 floors from Level 1 to Level 19, to encourage youth runners to participate. No ranking, with only finish time for reference.


Fun Climb – Type C:

A shorter version, climbing a total of 16 floors from Level 1 to Level 19, to encourage runners to pair up as a team. No ranking, with only finish time for reference.

Generally, the temperature in Shanghai in October is between 15 to 22 degrees Celsius with an average humidity of 74%.

Q7 Who can participate in the run?

The Individual Race, Team/ Corporate Relay, Student Relay, Fun Climb – Type A, Type B and Type C are open to the public.

Q9 Is this a good race for first-timers?
Although challenging, this race is achievable for most people and can be completed by walking, but participants who fail to finish at specific times will be asked by race officials to leave the course. We strongly recommend training for this event for first-timers or even if you are an experienced runner but have never done this particular race before.
