Pottinger Street
Central
Pottinger Street was constructed around 1845 and was named after Sir Henry Pottinger, the first Governor of Hong Kong. Because of the steepness of the street, it is covered with rough granite slabs so that pedestrians can walk on the street easily. Thus, many Chinese call the street “Shek Ban Gai” (石板街). With the unique style, Pottinger Street has been one of the favorite plots of movies.
